Foster

Let’s get started.

CHS animals that are placed within our Foster Program are truly special. Oftentimes, they are selected for the program based off of their needs: medical or behavioral. From young kittens struggling without a nursing mom, to dogs post-surgery, to learning social manners, our foster animals learn life-saving skills in your home, so that they can eventually find their forever place in this world.

How it works

  • staff member and a brown and grey dog are standing behind the counter and a laptop screen looking out.

    1) Submit an app

Fill out the Foster Application (found here) for a dog or cat at CHS.

  • 2) Match making

If approved, we will match you with an appropriate animal for your household.

  • a woman in a green sweater sitting on a leather sofa is looking up at her fluffy tabby cat sitting on the counter

    3) Open your home

CHS will provide all food, supplies, and medical costs for the animal staying in your home.

Who can you foster?

Visit the adoption pages to find animals available for foster care - they will have a "foster eligible" symbol displayed on their image.
