Canine Behavior Program
Here are personal thoughts, from adopters, on CHS’s Canine Behavior Training Program!
“This is a huge benefit for anyone getting a rescue dog.”
“It was very helpful…can always learn new things…every dog is different and not all rules apply, every time, so good to have lots of tools in the toolbox and high value treats!”
“It (the scholarship fund) was a pleasant surprise.”
“Thank you for funding this program. So much change on both sides (the pet and the family) and these programs help the two understand each other and build trust. Tia is great to work with and is so full of knowledge. She genuinely wants to see the pets become a valued part of the family and is willing to help where she can. So again, THANK YOU for your commitment to the Cherryland Humane Society and this program!”
“Thank you so much to Tia for sharing her knowledge. This new momma needs the training as much if not more then Dudley. I couldn’t be more grateful. Dudley’s already teaching his little brother how to lay down and relax. They are destined to be best buddies!”
We asked adopters what their favorite part of CHS’s Canine Behavior Training Program was, see their responses below!
“Socialization, specifically about what to expect from other dogs and introducing to unfamiliar animals.”
“We really enjoyed leash walking because our dog is such a puller! The socialization piece was also very helpful with this being our first dog, and because we didn’t know her history with other pets.”
“How to go about teaching tricks. The socialization in a safe, controlled environment.”
“Mainly getting an insight into my dog. I’d not had this breed before so some of her behavior was alarming. However, (the trainer) was able to explain things in a way that calmed my nervousness.”
“The basics helped me understand a dog’s mindset much better.”
“How to socialize properly and how to enrich my dog mentally.”
We asked adopters what Traverse Outdoor’s support means to them, check out their responses below!
“I do think it is very important. We couldn’t take advantage of much because we live too far away. I think it is invaluable to have good resources as you get to know an animal that has a past, especially when the past might not have been great.”
“It’s much appreciated! I would have been lost without it! Especially living in an apartment, it’s going to help me keep my dog forever.”
“HECK YES! As stated, before it is a huge boon to people adopting dogs that may not have had the best socialization. I’ve adopted many humane society/rescue dogs over the years, and this really helps. Please continue the support. I’d like to contribute in the future as I can.”
“We are grateful for their support. It is an excellent program and it makes a difference!”
“We were so happy that our dog received a scholarship for the Canine Behavior Training Program. It really helped us learn about her and her needs. I would definitely recommend these classes to everyone who has adopted a dog- I know they would be well worth the money spent! Thank you!”
